We're Sakay.

We help Filipino commuters by giving directions for not only buses and trains, but also for important but overlooked options like jeepneys and tricycles.

We grew up with the Philippine commute, and we know how tiring it gets. We believe that the only way forward is to improve public transport options and encourage their use.

We’ve been working even harder, through the mess that is 2020. Our new tracking features have helped at least 50,000 frontliners find their way to work amid the quarantine.

Of course, it’s never enough.

We want to help drivers and operators do better, too. We're fighting for a future where everyone uses public transport - not because they have no choice, but because it's the better choice.

It's a lot of work, so we're looking for people to join us, and help build this.

Why a career with us?

😎 We're cool

While Sakay is a transport tech startup, our heritage is squarely in tech. We have far more engineers than any other job class, but we want to make sure we don't fall into the monoculture trap. While we have solid STEM-based foundations, we try to keep everyone well-rounded, and encourage knowledge sharing across our different divisions: our people are encouraged to give talks, and we've had talks about marketing, fitness, and even hamsters.

Play is a big part of our company culture. We have game nights, mandatory fun days, and we just plain mess around with each other in chat. We leave pranks for each other, and we have sticker packs for the memorable moments in our time together.

🀲🏼 We're open

As a company, we try to be as transparent as we can. Our executives regularly keep their strategy discussions open for the rest of the team to listen and sometimes chime in on.

We like talking, but more importantly we like listening. We don't have walls between different jobs. Designers share their vision for how Sakay should look, developers give feedback on feasibility and efficiency. Everyone is allowed to point out suggestions and feedback (as long as it's constructive!), even to members of the executive team. If you're looking to add varied skills and leadership experience to your career, you're in the right place. We're way beyond the open door policy - in a way, we never had doors in the first place.

πŸ‘€ We look out for you

Given the current state of the country, and the inherent risks in going out these days, the Sakay team is fully remote. This means you don't need to risk life and lungs just to get the job done. There are some roles which may require fieldwork, (like, say, fieldwork managers) but that's disclosed at the job description level, and within reasonable limits.

All our employees get a health card. The great thing about this is that for special occasions wherein the health card won't cover an important procedure, we are open to talking about your requirements and seeing how we can help you out.

We have a really nice leave policy. Each regular employee is entitled to 15 vacation leaves and 15 sick leaves, and we are also flexible when there are emergencies and other such things, as long as the employee is transparent.

We have super flexible work times. Apart from pre-set meeting times, we only care about the work you do, not what time you do it. Some of us start work at 8am, and some at 1pm, and we're good with that.
